Rogerio Paulo Silva (

Rogerio Silva: "I believe that the man to know the world where he lives he need first to know itself exactly. Thus he will only be able to make its evolution that competes to it while human being. The message that I intend to pass to the people through my work is this zone of integration of the man with its proper nature."
S.A: Hi Rogerio, first of all, we would like know more about you. Tell us who is Rogerio Silva, tell us something about your life and your childhood in your countryR.PS: I was born in Lisbon on the sixty decade. After the basic studys and influenced by my mother I ingress in a school of arts. That decision was a very important way to know me as a human being and also realized how the art can reveal important means of understanding.
S.A: What is art for you?R.PS: Is the most raised expression between the man and its human nature.
S.A: Could you share some of your philosophy about art and artistic creation?R.PS: Since always man trying to understand the subjective world were live and how it works in the process of their existence on society. The artist has the power not to change the World but at least to contribute, reveal and give to people some informations and feelings to expressed on its subjectivity the possibilities of a better World.
S.A: Have you always been interested in arts? When did you discover that art would be an important part of your life?R.PS: My interest in the art world starts when I keep to make some questions without having answers. So I started try to understand the means of things and people throught the reflexion process in art.
S.A: How did you get started in the art world?R.PS: After my formation in painting and drawing my teatcher
João Vieira, a very known portuguese painter, direct me to contact a gallery in Lisbon and that was the pulled out.
S.A: Your artworks on meseon are paintings, Why do you choose painting as a means of expression? R.PS: In fact I focus my work on painting and drawing. On meseon I never showed my drawings but I promisse I will do it soon.
S.A: What concept would you like to show to your viewers? What would you like say with your artworks?R.PS: My concern is about the human being in is nature and its existence in the world.

S.A: How has society influenced your art? What are the social implications of your art?R.PS: To be, in our days, is the biggest difficulty that the people find in its lives. All the amount of information and influences we have to filter to be proper on society, makes me think that the art has to be a place and a basic part of conscience taking to the reflections and thought forms.
S.A: Discuss one of your pieces. What were you thinking when you created it?R.PS: I am preparing one drawing project that goes to be presented in an exhibition in January in the city of Porto, Portugal. This exhibition as the title “ Allures and breathe manual” and was inspired in the movie by Warhol “The Kiss”. So the exhibition consiste in 11 kisses images. It is a reflexion about the moment of the stopping of breathe when kissed. That moment, in a way, is an exercise between the allure of a kiss and the danger of stopping breath. Life and dead conscience of that moment.
S.A: What was your most important exhibition? Could you share that experience?R.PS: All my exhibitions as allways a project so I give the same importance to each one.
S.A: What are the most important artist that are influence in your life and your works? why?R.PS: There are a lot of artists that influenced my work and my forms to look. I use that kind of inspiration as an examples of aesthetic solutions.
S.A: Could you talk about the procedures that you use in your artworks? Preparation, development and finishingR.PS: I use photos from magazines and books as a formal suport viewing for my paintings and my drawings. I need a reflexion of the reallity to inspired me. I use this photos to drawing my concepts and construct my canvas or works on paper.
S.A: What do you feel when you are finished a artwork?R.PS: It´s like a loving relation. A strong subjective approach with the work exist during its production. In the end I feel that it left to belong to me. It follows its proper way as an autonomous workmanship with proper soul. It is a good sensation.
S.A: Do you have some challenge or goal which you are pursuing? R.PS: To live exclusively of my artistic work.
S.A: Some quick questions: Tell us an artist: Barceló. Because of its artistic sence of nature.
Tell us a city: Lisbon. Because of the light.
Tell us a dream: To know my essence.
S.A: Could you tell us something about you are currently working?R.PS: I am working on two simultaneos exhibitions to presente in a gallery on Porto city on January 2009. It was a hard work but I´m satisfied for the good results.
S.A: Have you got some anecdote that you wish share with meseon community?R.PS: I have not, sorry. But I sing sad songs in the shower.
S.A: For finish tell us, why do you create art?R.PS: To be closer to what I do not know.
